The award was presented to Susan at the 9th annual Houston gala on Saturday, November 19, 2005, by Janice Smaihall who said: “Tonight we are honoring a very unique and special young lady. She happens to be on the board of Golfers Against Cancer. What an honor it is to stand here and share with you a part of Susan Hill's story. This special lady has experienced cancer on all fronts."

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Projects
On March 29th, Golfers Against Cancer/New York Dinner for Cancer Research presented grants of $400,000 to fund three leading research groups at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. All of the $400,000 given by GAC has been matched at Memorial Sloan-Kettering – yielding $800,000 for new and promising research.

Golfers Against Cancer presented its 2005 Special Honoree award to Ronald G. Bliss. Dr Barry Sachs presented the award to Ron’s wife, Charlene Bliss at the 9th annual Houston gala.
Ron was an American hero who succumbed to cancer in February, 2005 after a lengthy and inspirational battle. Ron Bliss loved life and he loved playing golf.

2005 Golfers Against Cancer Tournament Set For November 21

Houston, Texas . . . Golfers Against Cancer (GAC) has announced their ninth annual Houston area golf tournament and dinner. The tournament is scheduled for Monday, November 21 and the Saturday night dinner and live auction will be held November 19. There is also a special pro-am event for diamond and platinum level sponsors held on Sunday, November 20. Several LPGA pros come in from around the country to participate.
Golfers Against Cancer has had one goal in mind since its inaugural year of 1997 – to raise money for cancer research. What began as a modest fund-raiser to honor the late Dave Roberts has become a Houston tradition. The venue for this ninth annual Golfers Against Cancer Tournament will again be the Clubs of Kingwood – to include the Deerwood Golf Club and all four Kingwood Country Club courses. The tournament and surrounding events have raised well over $8 million – including matching funds – since its inception.

Dinning, Dancing, and Golf brings in $726,00 to GAC
It was a great week for GAC and cancer research from Dancing with the Stars $126,000 and The Cliffs Challenge $300,000 won by John O'Hurley. On top of that, the dinner's in Greensboro and Atlanta both cleared $150,000 each for a grand total of roughly $726,000.
