John O’Hurley Wins Big for Golfers Against Cancer….Again

Knowing “when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em” has helped fund cancer research projects through Golfers Against Cancer (“GAC”).   Our dear friend, John O’Hurley, participated in the Celebrity Charity Blackjack Tournament at Red Hawk Casino’s grand opening.  He played against celebrities such as Erik Estrada (CHiPs), Perry King (Riptide), Charlene Tilton (Dallas), Linda Bair (The Exorcist), singer Bobby Rydell, Brad Miller and Kenny Thomas of the Sacramento Kings and others.   John had named GAC as his charity of choice and he WON!  GAC was awarded $30,000 for his efforts.   

Red Hawk Casino (www.redhawkcasino.com) is located in Northern California, near Placerville, and between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, NV. 

John’s winnings have helped 2 specific projects in Houston:

-          Dr. Richard Hurwitz/Baylor College of Medicine.  Dr. Hurwitz’s research is with gene therapy targeted at Bilateral Retinoblastoma

-          Dr. Anne Tsao/M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.  Dr. Tsao’s research is with treatment for Mesothelioma

Over the years, John has participated in several celebrity charity events, including “Dancing with the Stars” and the Cliffs Community Shootout and has named GAC has his charity of choice.  John was the GAC 2007 Person of the Year but we all know he’s our Person of GAC every year.  Thank you, John!
