Beneficiaries

GAC and the Dinners for Cancer Research have two primary goals – both of critical importance:

  • First, our goal is to raise as much money as possible in our all-volunteer effort for cancer research.  And we want our supporters and contributors know that virtually all funds are going to support our cause, which is curing cancer.
  • Our second goal is to make sure these funds go to the right beneficiaries and projects where they can have an immediate effect on research leading to saving lives.

We believe our grants to beneficiaries since 1997 of over $13 million (including matching funds and after all expenses) through 2006 has led to over $100 million in governmental grants to projects where GAC has been a participant, and often a catalyst.  GAC seed grants help researchers provide basic research, which often then leads to larger governmental grants, clinical trials and, hopefully, FDA approval for new treatments to be available to the general public.  It is not just funds raise but lives saved!
