John O’Hurley

GAC has had a number of celebrity supporters and participants but one person stands out above all others – often due to the mousse in his hair.  John O’Hurley is truly our national spokesperson but also a key reason for our success since joining as our emcee in 1999.  John and his lovely wife Lisa are at virtually every GAC venue throughout the year and have supported us not only with their presence but their hearts and ideas.  John played golf with Bobby Jones in 1999 at the AT&T at Pebble Beach.  Since then, John has acquired the J. Peterman Company along with Bobby and the real J. Peterman.  In addition, John has “danced with the stars” and most of the voters on the 2005 ABC summer hit.  Many of our current sponsors around the country have become involved through John’s solicitation and endorsement.

Soledad O’Brien

CNN celebrity, Soledad O’Brien, has supported GAC and served as one of our 2004 New York Dinner for Cancer Research emcees.  Soledad’s husband, investment banker Brad Raymond, has been a friend of Bobby Jones and Lynn Mangum for years and now with 3 children, including a 1-year old pair of twins – it’s a family affair in support of the New York Dinner for Cancer Research.

Roger Clemens

Roger Clemens has played in several GAC tournaments over the years.  In 2004, “the Rocket” really helped out as rain washed out the last several holes of our Monday tournament.  Our participants were not upset as the Rocket took charge and gave an impromptu live interview to his fans.  Thanks for your support!
