DAVID J. ROBERTS, 63, of Kingwood, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 16, 1998.  David was born on December 22, 1934 in Ottumwa, Iowa.  He graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Administration from Iowa State University in 1957 where he was a member of Sigma Chi social fraternity.

For over twenty-three years David served as the Vice President of Human Resources for Austin Industries Inc. David also was a member of the Construction Personnel Executive Group, The Associated Builders and Contractors, The Houston Business Roundtable, The National Center for Construction, Education and Research and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Houston Area Contractors Safety Council.

David was an avid and accomplished golfer.  He was a member of Deerwood Country Club where he served as a Director and Treasurer of the Men's Golf Association and as Captain of the Saturday Morning Group.  In 1997, David was also presented with an "Honorary Membership" to The Machrihanish Golf Club of County Argyll, Scotland for his lifelong contributions to the game of golf.

He is survived by his loving wife Sally of 40 years and his four children, Carole Kratkiewicz of The Woodlands, Texas; Dr. Carin Roberts Wollmann of Raleigh, North Carolina; Charles Roberts of Grand Prairie, Texas; and Cristen Hewett of Austin, Texas; his brother, James Roberts of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his five grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at Kingwood United Methodist Church at 4:00PM on Wednesday, February 18, 1998.  The family will be receiving friends at the Rosewood North Funeral Home at 6:00 to 9:00 on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tour for a Cure, at the Deerwood Shop at 281-360-1065 or to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
