Greensboro Dinner for Cancer Research

Greensboro Dinners for Research

The first annual Greensboro Dinner for Cancer Research was held at Starmount Forest Country Club on Sunday, September 18th, 2005. Dr. Bruce Lyon is the leader of this effort, supported by friends including Bob Plybon and Mike Bruce, who served as hosts. Lyon has been involved with Golfers Against Cancer since its founding in 1997 in Houston, Texas. Plybon and Bruce, as well as another fellow Greensboro founder, John Moll, have also attended the Houston events.

John O’Hurley – noted actor and entertainer – spoke to the 200 attendees from his Dancing with the Stars rehersal. Because of the hosts’ generosity, all proceeds from his appearance went directly to cancer research. The dinner included a silent and live auction with magnificent trips, golf outings and sports memorabilia.

Proceeds will go to fund specific cancer research projects at leading area institutions such as Wake Forest University, Duke University and University of North Carolina.

Interested parties wanting to join GAC in the Triad area can contact Dr. Bruce Lyon at 336-288-8018 or www.triadgac.com
