After 10 great years, the Greensboro, North Carolina chapter of Golfers Against Cancer is ceasing operations. Through annual dinners, auctions and golf tournaments, Greensboro GAC volunteers raised over $2,500,000 for cancer research. This money supported cutting edge, proof of concept research projects at cancer research centers at North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, and East Carolina Universities. An informal survey of these cancer research centers found that for every dollar from a GAC grant, these centers leveraged that dollar into ten dollars of research funding. That means that the total impact of Greenboro’s generosity is $25,000,000 in research for a cure! Congratulations to Bruce Lyon and his entire organization! Your wonderful efforts are greatly appreciated, and will be sorely missed.
